A black oval glass pool holds water stirred by a pump, reflecting neon that bends from the ground upward through a slumped glass piece on a black-stained wood stand. Embedded in the glass are woven photographs: the site of the artist’s grandmother’s future urn in a Seoul Buddhist temple, a nighttime plane view over New York on her return from Seoul, and a video call screenshot of her grandmother lying on a futon. Suspended nearby, a smaller slumped glass piece contains woven images of her grandfather’s body wrapped in mulberry paper for his funeral and light entering the artist’s Connecticut studio.
